Do you know how long a mattress lasts?
When you’re thinking of investing in a new mattress, it’s important to think about how long it will last for. If you’re spending over $10,000 on a mattress, can you expect it to last for five years? Or ten? The more durable it is, the longer it will last and the better deal you get.
Sealy earned Canstar Blue’s “Most Satisfied Customers” Award for Mattress Brands in Australia in both 2017 and 2018. We’ve worked closely with a leading research and development team to design the very highest quality mattress. So how many nights of good sleep will a premium Sealy mattress give you?
10-year Sealy Warranty
Believe or not, some customers have claimed their Sealy mattress has lasted for 30 years. Every Sealy mattress comes with a 10-year conditional warranty, and we promise you the best sleeping experience during the warranty period.
The warranty service covers coils in the mattress, the edge and other components. If your mattress has any loose, broken or protruding parts, we’ll repair and replace them according to the terms and conditions of the warranty.
Thanks to this warranty service, you can rest assured that your mattress will stay in excellent condition for at least the next ten years

Post production, our mattresses undergo rigorous testing in Sealy’s very own Research and Development Centre to ensure they are up to standards in every way. Our R&D Centre is a NATA accredited testing facility, complying with stringent Australian quality standards, ensuring that every Sealy mattress is durable, comfortable and provides unparalelled support.
You will need a new mattress when…
- your mattress has been used for 7 to 10 years.
- sagging means reduced support.
- it makes you uncomfortable, or causes lumbar or back pain.
A good mattress ensures a good night’s sleep, giving your body sufficient support and keeping your spine naturally straight while you sleep. This is critical as it allows your muscles to truly relax, meaning you can get a restful and restorative sleep.
The structure of a mattress will start to deteriorate over time. As a result, the support it offers may also decrease. When your mattress starts to sag, you may find it harder to fall asleep, and perhaps start tossing and turning more often at night. Some people may even wake up with pain in their lower back after a bad night’s sleep.
If you’re experiencing any of the above, it’s time to think about how many years you’ve had your current mattress for and whether there are any signs of sagging or obvious deterioration.
Tips for mattress maintenance
• Understand our warranty service
Read the warranty details carefully so you understand which parts of the mattress are covered. If you feel uncomfortable, then check those parts to see whether anything is amiss. If so, you should file a warranty claim immediately. Make sure you also check the exclusions paragraph to make sure you don’t miss out on any aspects of your Sealy warranty service.
• Don’t move it alone
When a Sealy mattress is delivered to your home, you should ask someone to help you move it. Flip the mattress onto its side carefully, without bending it. Sealy mattresses are equipped with intelligent LiftRight®Handles, which provide gripping points to help you adjust your mattress to the position best suited for the bed frame. Remember, they are not for lifting or carrying the mattress.
• Don’t use it as a trampoline
Don’t be tempted to jump on your mattress once it’s in place! Sealy mattresses are soft and bouncy, but jumping can damage the structure. This type of damage isn’t covered by our warranty.
• Keep it dry and clean
Another important tip: keep your mattress dry and clean. You can do this by covering it with a mattress protector. If it’s a bed for kids, you can put a further waterproof sheet underneath the mattress protector, just in case.
• Pick a sturdy bed frame
If you want to extend the lifespan of a mattress, pick your bedframe carefully. A bedframe with insufficient support will cause your mattress to sag. Consider buying a frame from Sealy where our frames are specifically designed to provide the correct support. If you opt for another brand, do make sure it’s the right fit for your mattress.
• Rotate it regularly
Our last tip for you, Sealy’s mattresses are no-flip, so you should not turn yours over. However, you should occasionally turn your mattress 180 degrees to ensure even wear and maintain a comfortable sleeping experience.
